Louise Kelly seeks to live in harmony with nature and inspires others to through music.
She does that through making music, which has been Louise’s nature since childhood. She is an accomplished singer and pianist, studying at College of DuPage, Northern Illinois University & North Central College and performing professionally since age 16. Her origin story starts in the teen rock band “Rainbow Grass,” and has unfolded through many genres, including jazz, pop strings, and arriving presently in her own singer-songwriter style. Heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder, she is a seasoned band-leader and has performed with groups at prominent Chicago venues, such as the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Soldier Field. Currently, she performs her own material from her most recent album, Two Gardens.
“Two Gardens” is an exploration of what it is to grow as an artist and also as a parent. Each pursuit is like its own garden, growing and taking on a life of its own. Louise is blessed with two daughters, Bella and Noelle. Looking ahead to life on earth for future generations, it’s clear to Louise that we need to return to ancient ways of tending the earth, caring for it, loving it, listening to it. For ourselves, for our children, and for all creatures of the natural world.
Louise is a Climate Reality Leader, as well as a Treesister with Treesisters International. Her passion for reversing climate change stems from her days as an environmental club co-director at Hillside School, where she also taught music and choir. Her tenure at Hillside culminated in a student production of “The Lorax” put on jointly by the Hillside Choirs and Environmental Club. She left Hillside School in 2018, but remains active in both music and environmental education. She now produces the podcast, “Earth Chats,” in partnership with SCARCE, an environmental education non-profit.
Louise has a Masters’ Degree in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music, Chicago. She continues teaching piano lessons with LMK Studios, teaching students of all ages both remotely and in-person.
