Nature School

This year I’m homeschooling my daughter. With the onset of COVID-19, the upheaval of our lives created the opportunity to be at home more with my daughter. With my background in music education, it’s a no brainer that I am her piano teacher. But there were other seeds in addition to musical ones that I want to plant.

My personal mission is to learn more about the land we live on. Furthermore I’d like to harmonize my life with it, too. So my daughter and I together are on a journey as part of her homeschool education to do just this. We call this component of homeschool our “Nature School.”

As you might guess, most of it is outdoors. We take walks in the woods and prairies of Northern Illinois. We take monthly camping trips. Noelle has gotten really good at making fires!
