Earth Chats Podcast
EARTH WEEK 2021
Stepping out from behind the scenes on this podcast, I was interviewed as a guest on this show. This was all kinds of fun. I got to chat with my pals at SCARCE (School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education) about: * using art to heal our connection between ourselves and our planet * environmental education * music education We dished about my time at as a music educator Hillside School (go Bluejays!). Just talking about our 2018 musical production of Dr. Suess’ “The Lorax” brings tears to my eyes! These 3rd-8th grade students loved becoming animals and trees for this show. We felt the connection between deforestation and animals losing their homes (i.e. becoming homeless) as we told the story.
Take away for me: develop empathy for endangered animals on this planet. and learn to love, preserve, and plant trees!
Also in this episode: Redemptive art. Humpback whales. Washing Rabbit paws. And the seeds of a new song: The people of the prairie.
